Deputy Chiefs rake in $200,000 in Dyer lawsuit settlement

The two Deputy Police Chiefs who sued Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer and the City of Fresno under hostile work environment claims each received $100,000 in a settlement, their lawyer announced today.

The suit alleged that Dyer used derogatory remarks about African Americans, Asians and cited the Swearengin-led City Hall as a “sorority.”

The timing of the suit couldn’t come any worse for the City, as Mayor Swearengin is negotiating for a $16 million concession from the Fresno Police Officers Association to balance the 2012-2013 budget.
